Student groups host Anthropology Day on February 20th
Charlotte’s Anthropology Legion and the Anthropology Graduate Student Association and are co-hosting this year’s Anthropology Day festivities! We will have a number of different events on February 20th and will also be holding an essay competition. Please join us for our Anthropology Day Celebration!
When: February 20th 10am-6pm Where: Barnard 244 What: Anthropology day is a time to celebrate our discipline and share it with everyone around us! Join the Anthropology Graduate Student Association and Charlotte’s Anthropology Legion for a full day of fun activities! Schedule: 10:00am-11:30: Letter writing campaign and advocacy workshop. Come join us in writing letters to our local representatives about issues that affect us all! 11:30-2:00: Games and snacks! Hang out, play some board games, and enjoy some refreshments. 2:00: Anthropology Jeopardy. Test your knowledge on anthropological topics with the chance to win awesome prizes! 4:30-5:30/6: Potluck and Pizza in Denny 203! Bring a dish or snack to share if you can. 5:30: Essay contest winner announced.(See details to enter below!) Essay Contest Prompt: What does the future hold for anthropology as a discipline? When we look at anthropology, we can see how things have changed over time. Methods have been refined or completely thrown out, and new theories have emerged and been put into practice. Drawing from the history and current state of anthropology, describe what you think the future will look like for the field. Essay Format: – 500 words maximum – Times New Roman font (or similar), 12 pt, double spaced – If sources are used, please have them formatted according to either MLA, APA, or AAA guidelines. Essay Submissions: – Essay submissions are due by 11:59 pm February 14th – Email essay in pdf or doc format to Autumn Hudock (ahudock1@uncc.edu) ** All submissions must include the subject “Anth Day Essay Contest – (Author’s name)”
