April 2015: NSF Grant supports multi-location conference on social sustainability

On April 8-10, 2015, the Integrated Network for Social Sustainability (INSS) held its third annual meeting. Unlike in past years, when the annual meeting was held at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, this conference took place simultaneously at 5 sites across the globe, linked together by online technology. Participants gathered in Charlotte, Lansing MI, Phoenix, AZ, Bend OR, and London in the United Kingdom. The keynote speaker was Adjo Amekudzi-Kennedy, speaking on “Infrastructure Investment to Create Enduring and Human-Centered Wealth: A Capital Asset Managment Theoretic and Analytical Framework.” For more information about the meeting, go to INSS 2015 meeting.

The INSS is a multi-disciplinary 5-year project supported by the National Science Foundation. The Principal Investigators include UNCC faculty from Engineering, English, Architecture, and Anthropology. Dr. Nicole Peterson, Asst. Professor of Anthropology, is one of the leaders of the project.
